Maines B-day Dinner

Jahmaine wanted "those chicken things I made for Alisah's dinner" and "those really good potatoes with cheese" and because I insisted on a vegetable, raw carrots. So there you have it.
Those chicken things I made for Alisha's birthday (BBQ Chicken made in a slow cooker)

I used chicken breasts and legs. Then you have to have a BBQ sauce to cook them in.

Almost homemade BBQ sauce ( I doubled it)
1 bottle BBQ sauce ( I used Kraft Original because that is what I had) but any kind will do.
1 jar of honey
1 onion finally chopped (OK I admit I bought the onion from Walmart already chopped)
about a half a cup of brown sugar
about a half a cup of white sugar
and spices
about a 1/2 a teaspoon of garlic powder, and onion powder
about a teaspoon of chili powder and paprika
and about 2 tablespoons of Johnny's seasoning.

Mix all the ingredients together and coat the chicken. Place is the slow cooker on low for about 8 hours.

those really good potatoes with cheeseI call them "yummy potatoes" but most people call them funeral potatoes. Whatever!

1 large package frozen hashbrowns (thawed)
2 8oz packages of cheese ( I used on of mild cheddar and one of Colby Jack.
1 can of cream of anything soup (I used cream of potato, but kind will do)
1 stick butter
1 16 0z package of sour cream.

Melt the butter in the microwave. In a large bowl mix the butter with the soup and sour cream,
add the potatoes and 1 package cheese. Put in a casserole dish, cover with foil, cook at 350 for about 45 minutes. Take out of the oven, remove the foil and add the remaining chees on top. Cook until the cheese is melted and the pototoes are kinda bubbly.

Raw carrots not so much

There you have it a feast fit for a 7 year old.

  1. am I missing something? Last time I checked brussels sprouts are not carrots? Everything else sounds really yummy- can the chicken be frozen when you put it in the crock pot?
